Customer Question

My granddaughter has ADHD. One of the main concerns is her reaction when situations. She may go into a screaming hysterical fit and nothing can be done except to wait it out. Afterwards she is very remorseful and feels bad about having the meltdown. She had been given drugs with an adverse reaction. Where can she get help in the Atlanta, GA area. Thanks in advance

Your situation with your granddaughter is certainly disturbing. She seems to understand that her meltdowns are not appropriate. Has she been evaluated for bipolar disorder? Bipolar sometimes is misdiagnozed as ADHD and also can occur concurrently with ADHD.

She also may have food sensitivities, which impact behavior. She needs a thorough evaluation by a pediatric specialist, or possibly a Naturopath to find out what is causing these meltdowns.

Unfortunately we are not allowed to make recommendations, but you can ask your pediatrician or your insurance company for referrals in your area. You need more information about this situation.

Warmest regards,
