hi i have a brother who has had paranoid schizophrenia for 14 years[he's 32],for the last 3 years hes been getting stuck on trivial things which he then goes over the same thing from 10 mins to 2 days.What ever u say to get him to stop doesn't work,anything you say just doesn't register,its like talking to a wall.You could go into another room and he will follow you to carry on about the same thing.Any ideas what it cud be

The kind of "stuck"ness that you're talking about is very common among people with psychotic disorders. It is technically called Perseveration and is exactly what you said-- when someone gets an idea in their minds and then thinks about it and/or talks about it over and over and over seemingly without being able to stop or think about anything else. There are some medications that are supposed to help people stop having these kinds of thoughts and I would suggest that you and/or your brother speak with his psychiatrist about this.
