Wow! 6 people have told me 190 n to never ran a cat pass 210 it will damage motorI installed an original water temp
New oil cooler and new thermostats duo to oil on the cooler now I am running it with dawn to clean it and I was getting worried with temp already at 210 n fan not coming onIf it doesn’t turn on at around 212 what’s the max temp I should run without hurting my motor?
Technician: Nich1019, Cummins/Caterpillar Technician replied 1 year ago

No, 230 or a little more wouldn't hurt it as long as the cooling system is full. 210 would definitely not cause any damage.

Being a 2001 it's likely that there is a coolant temp sensor for the ECM and then a separate one for the gauge. The gauge could also be a little off and tends to have a slight delay.

For your testing purposes I would turn the fan on manually at 225 or so. Then you'll have to figure out what's going on if the fan won't come on.

If you don't have a fan switch turn the motor off at that point.

You are correct temp sensor for ECm is in front
Coolant is on the back or the motor
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Thank you very much feliz your help fan came on at 218...?
Technician: Nich1019, Cummins/Caterpillar Technician replied 1 year ago

No problem. Were you monitoring the ECM with diagnostic software or the gauge?
