Hello. I’m working on a Cummins ISB in a 2013 Ford F650. Customer just bought the truck so I have no history to go on. It had codes 3543, 3582 and 3714. I noticed that a new crankcase pressure sensor was plugged in but not installed into the port. They left the old sensor to plug the hole. I changed the CCV filter and installed the sensor correctly. Also replaced both NOX sensors. I removed SCR and decomp tube to inspect- all looked clean. I had ECM updated and also called dealer to see if any updates may be due. I changed DEF fluid and filter. Fails SCR test but did not trigger faults. Customer drove close to 200 miles before light came back on and gave same codes 3543, 3582 and 3714. Also gave new code 1974 for excessive crankcase pressure. The truck has only 67,000 miles but I see the turbo actuator has been replaced and DPF/SCR has been worked on. It seems like way too early to already need a new SCR? Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide.

Hello. It is likely that the SCR has failed. Unfortunately sometimes they do not last long. I know that you have replaced the DEF, but I would smell it to verify that it has the typical ammonia scent. I would also remove and clean the DEF doser. I like to use hot water, it dissolves the DEF easily. Those faults will not set immediately, they need time to set. If be concerned about the crankcase pressure. Has the filter been changed? Make sure there's no coolant in the oil, from EGR cooler or head gasket, and if you still have high blowby its likely that dirt has gone through the intake at some point. If that's the case, it may need piston rings and cylinders honed. Remove the piping from air filter and turbo and check for signs of dirt.

Ok so aside from crankcase pressure looks like SCR bad. Any reason it could go bad so quickly?

Actually, if there is ring and cylinder bore damage, the oil thats entering exhaust could mix with DEF and partially plug the SCR. If that's not the case then no, just a prematurely failed part. They do fail early sometimes. If you replace it make sure there are no updates to part number, ECM calibration, etc.
