under heavy load at times...
Have 2003 mack truck. Mr model. Truck surges and misses under heavy load at times and at 3rd or 4th shift consistently. Vmac3 scanner says sid 250 data link problem. Replaced ecm wire harness. No change. Swapped ecm no change. Replaced fuel supply pump and no. 3 eup came up on scanner no change. All eup getting correct volts and nozzles firing. Tried wiggle test but can't duplicate. Is there chance wire internally bad somewhere in VECU to midpoint connector to ecm. Unscrew at .midpiont terminal. No corrosion. Rubbing wire wouldn't create same problem at exact stage every drive cycle

If you have confirmed two different ecms have no resolve with the same problem, you have also confirmed good fuel supply to your pump and EUP's with no leaks or restrictions causing a starvation of fuel, I would have to suggest that the problem is likely somewhere within the wiring harness but I would also verify that your batteries and charging system all test out okay within their rated specifications and that all of your grounds check good. You want to make sure there are no voltage or ground related issues. I would check for that and go through the wiring harness with a fine-toothed comb for a thorough inspection. Inactive codes are VECU. J1708/ J1587. Abnormal freq. Sid 250. Fmi 8. 6-3. Count 2x. Ecm fan clutch output. Inactive. Sid 33. Fmi. 5. 4 -2. Count 1x. Took reading after truck ran all day

General Information
The non-critical communication between the vehicle’s
control units and the display on the instrument’s gauges
is carried out via J1587/1708 Information Data Link.
The system’s critical control signals are sent via the
J1939 Control Data Link.
Information and diagnostic signals are sent via
J1587/1708 Information Data Link. The link also functions
as a reserve system for the J1939 Control Data Link, if
the Control Data Link does not function for any reason.
J1587/1708 Information Data Link keeps the system
status continually updated and makes this information
available for reading via the diagnostics socket.
Component: A17, VECU.
Fault code
FMI 2
Intermittent or incorrect data.
• If the VECU is unable to send it’s messages onto the
databus after several attempts, the VECU will use this
fault code to flag a possible physical fault with the
datalink.
Conditions for fault code:
• If the VECU registers incorrect messages on the
information link the control unit interprets this as a fault
and a fault code is set.
Possible cause:
• Several units are sending at the same time on the
information link.
Reaction from VECU:
• Fault code is set.
• Yellow lamp is requested.
Noticeable external symptom:
• Yellow lamp lights up.
Action:
• Troubleshoot J1939 Control Data Link

You're going to want to try to resolve these fault codes if they are returning active even intermittently. Try clearing the faults and see if they come back.

2003 Mack Mr truck E-7 engine. Problem with truck stumbling some. Inactive code keeps coming up no 3 eup. and data link. Active code is fan clutch output which I assume wouldn't cause truck not to take fuel at Times and then pkup again. I have replaced number 3 eup and injector nozzle.
