Dd15 yellow def low level light is flashing def full. Check engine light is on. Has fault codes 5246 15 and 16. There is no derate. Happen the other day then light and all codes went away.

517.2  SPN 5246/FMI 15 - EPA10

Regulatory Fault Ignored - Derate On

For 2011 models, this code sets when the vehicle has been driven for 30 miles while a code is present for the DEF tank level, DEF metering valve, DEF pump, NOx sensors, Blocked DEF line, DEF quality, NOx efficiency, SCR harness and/or SCR sensor.

For 2010 models, this code sets when the vehicle has been driven for 10 hours or 500 miles while a code is present for the DEF tank level, DEF metering valve, DEF pump, NOx sensors, Blocked DEF line, DEF quality, NOx efficiency, SCR harness and/or SCR sensor.

The only fault codes are the 5246. 15 16. Have driven about 500 miles so far

Note: (EPA10 ONLY) If SPN 5246/FMI 0, 15 or 16 are the only fault(s) present, follow troubleshooting procedure for SPN 3361/FMI 7 (DEF Unit - Unable to clear Restriction).
The 3361/FMI 7 code, is more then likely your metering unit is stopped up and needs flushed. This is pretty common issue.
There is also a bulletin that came out for installing a air dryer cool loop that helps prevent this from happening.I would also ask to see if possibly you are under the mileage for the aftertreatment system warranty as some have been able to get this installed under warranty or at least some partial help if this is causing your problem ultimately. It's a pleasure to help anyway I can.

Once you have the results of the tests after troubleshooting, if you find that the problem is not one of the mechanical components but that of an electrical issue which could be affected if water or moisture is shorting out the connector then maybe. To determine this you would still have to go through the tests.

If the fault is intermittent and only happening when it rains, it is possible that water is getting into a connector within that circuit and if it's only happening when it rains. If you find that it's happening other times as well when it is dry weather, I would go through the test procedures for those codes and see what the results are.

If that is the case should be ok to still drive for awhile since showing no signs of derate? Was doing 70 and my understanding should be at 55 derate with those codes.

As long as your soot level is low and regen is not required. As soon as it wants to regen, that's when you will start having problems with Derate.

I would have no way of knowing that unfortunately. That would be something that a technician would have to plug-in with the diagnostic software to be able to look at all of your current parameters and the current status of everything to try to determine.
