Customer: I have a Cat 3126. It loses prime it seems like after sitting overnight in the cold. Replaced the check valve in the back of the cylinder head. Thought I had it fixed. Today I went to start it and threw a fault 164-11. Same symptoms. Runs rough and kills out until it warms up a bit and then no problems at all. Only throws fault when it’s in the cold over night. Please help

Sounds like the oil is leaking down from the heui system since it’s setting a 164-11 when frost started.
This is caused by two things.
First is a faulty injection actuation pressure control valve. I would change it first. Second is a faulty heui pump.Please reply back if you need more help. I am happy to assist.

Ok do you know where I can find a part # for the control valve
Just give your engine serial number to the local Cat dealer. They can get you a part number.

Ok I installed it. Parked it outside and going to let it sit for awhile to see if problem is fixed. Also I have a Cat 6.6 Acert engine that I have a very hard time starting in the cold. Block heater plugged in and glow plugs working but it will not fire When I roll it in the shop and let it warm up it will start and run all day. What could be causing it not to start in the cold?
