So .. Is there an engine lamp on steady ?

The reason I ask is if we replace a dpf without finding out what caused the dpf to fail ( engine not running right ) , it will take out the new dpf and you will have to replace it again . We always want to be sure we have a proper running engine before replacing it .

Can you also snap the throttle to 100 % and release while watching the smoke coming out of tail pipe or the stack ? Let me know if it is black smoke coming out .

All I know it die on road keep die again and again next 15 mins to 15 mins again and again n I regen the truck it ask me to do after high idle long time like 45 mins final it go down but the dashboard said dpf regen (again) n no I haven’t check that smoke

So if tail pipe is not black with soot , or you don't see black smoke coming yet , it may still be fine . We need to address the problem with the engine now . Please retrieve the engine faults marked with source address 0 (SA:0). Use this procedure to retrieve the faults .

We need to find out what is causing this first before doing a regen again .

It looks like soot is starting to come through substrate so yeah ... it is starting to fail but... You do need to be sure engine is running properly with no symptoms , low power , or engine lights on with faults or else you will cause the next dpf to fail within a few months .

Before installing dpf , please try this ....

Run the engine up to normal operating temperature . Then once at temperature , have an assistant look at the exhaust pipe where dpf mounts and you hold the throttle pedal to full throttle for a good 15 seconds while the assistant watches the black smoke coming out .

It should be a light black puff that is easy to see through and then clears up . This is a good running engine .

If it is a heavy black puff that is hard to see through , and it does not seem to clear up as you are staying at high throttle , then the engine is not running at its best and should be addressed before installing new dpf .

Aahhh ok will do it before I install cleaning filter ... but if it black heavy and hard to see so there something else need to be fix the motor right ?

That's what I said ... yes.

Do not worry about parked regen message until we address the issue . If nothing found with engine , install dpf and perform a dpf reset in servicemaxx or neds software .

Sorry ... I need the full fault numbers ... Those are only the SPN , i also need the FMI for each . AND I ONLY NEED THE CODES WITH SA:0. This means they come from engine computer .

For some reason , I'm having technical issues .I would start with 51 -11 . Inspect the engine throttle valve. It is located at the intake of the engine right where the charge air cooler hose connects to the engine intake .

I found your question again ... From what you describe , there is something wrong with the engine throttle valve . This would also cause dpf to fail . So this falls in line with what we are seeing here .

That is the part with the butterfly valve and the brown connector going to it . It looks ok but lilkely is failing because of the code you had . You can either diagnose the fault or replace it . Up to you . I can send steps to troubleshoot if you want .

SPN 51 FMI 11 - ETP operation fault - underVolt, overAmp, overTemp/ETP H-bridge Electrical Check

Fault Overview

Fault sets when Engine Control Module (ECM) detects short circuit on Engine Throttle Valve (ETV)

Lamp Reaction

Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) will illuminate when this fault is detected during two consecutive drive cycles.

Possible Causes

  • ETV-CL Short to GND

  • ETV-CH Short to GND

  • ETV-CL Short to PWR

  • ETV-CH Short to PWR

  • ETV-CL shorted to ETV-CH

  • Failed Engine Throttle Valve (ETV)

Step 1

Check for active or pending fault codes.

Decision

Use Electronic Service Tool (EST) with Navistar® Engine Diagnostics. Key ON Engine OFF (KOEO), check Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) list for SPN 51 FMI 11.

Is EST DTC list SPN 51 FMI 11 active or pending?

Yes: Go to Step 2.

No: Repair Active faults. After repairs are complete, retest for SPN 51 FMI 11.

Step 2

Inspect connections at Engine Throttle Valve (ETV) connector.

Decision

  1. Key OFF.

  2. Disconnect ETV.

  3. Check ETV and connector terminals for: damaged or pinched wires; moisture in terminals; corroded terminals; loose, bent, or broken pins; or broken connector housing.

Are ETV connector, harness, and terminals clean and undamaged?

Yes: Go to Step 3.

No: Repair connector, harness, or terminal damage. After repairs are complete, retest for SPN 51 FMI 11.

Step 3

Check for short to GND.

Decision

  1. Perform Test 1 .

  2. Use DMM, measure resistance between Breakout Harness ZTSE4735A pin-2 and known good GND.

Is resistance greater than 1000 ohms?

Yes: Go to Step 4.

No: Repair short to GND between ETV pin-2 and ECM pin E-57 and pin E-75. After repairs are complete, retest for SPN 51 FMI 11.

Decision

  1. Perform Test 2 .

  2. Use DMM, measure resistance between Breakout Harness ZTSE4735A pin-6 and known good GND.

Yes: Go to Step 5.

Is resistance greater than 1000 ohms?

No: Repair short to GND between ETV pin-6 and ECM pin E-58 and pin E-76. After repairs are complete, retest for SPN 51 FMI 11.
