Customer: 2006 D12 Volvo engine. I get a light on the dash that looks like An island fuel pump. With drops coming out of the end of the fuel nozzle. No torque cant pull up a hill on empty trailer. Took it to two shops and one Volvo dealer shop. No body could figure out what's wrong. No aeration from what they can tell.
JA: Have you checked the fuses? The dashboard bulbs?
Customer: No. That's no the issue. Why would s bulb keep me from having engine power. Engine performance
JA: What is the model of your '06 Volvo?
Customer: 780
JA: Are you fixing your 780 yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Priming pump and fuel p
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: And check valve

Has anyone run a tet line from the primer pump inlet back into the fuel filler cap, bypassing the suction system from tank to the primer? I'm no Volvo specialist but have lots of years on diesel in general, and it is always a fuel suction problem. Light to me signifies a lack of fuel to the system.

Customer
sounds right but I dnt think any of the shops I took it too did that they just did visuals and supposedly checked pressure off the fuel pump. I had changed a fuel line from the fuel tank and it happened right after that. It was replaced with a plastic hose. And not a rubber type hose with the fittings clamped.

Maybe the hose is the problem

Customer
Even though there isn't signs of diesel leaking out of that hose it could still have suction issues correct?
Customer
Seems to do it on and off.

Run the test with the test line from the transfer pump.
