I just replaced the oil cooler on a c13 and flushed the entire system. The customer ran great back to his house and said

What may have and probably happened

is the oil pressure regulators are sticking

they wil free up in time a oil gets hot

Yes fresh oil would have helped , no coolant in it

coolant is not like water ,where if will boil off

it stays in the engine , this cause a sludge
