pid 164 fmi3 injection actuater pressure and pid110 fmi 3 coolant temp voltage high. I am not even showing the high pressure reading on my scanner. the driver said that it was loping just before it blew some blue smoke and shut down

Thanks for asking your question. I will try and help you out.

164-3 is defined as an injection actuation pressure sensor open circuit.

110-3 is defined as coolant temp sensor circuit open.

Normally Neither of these codes should keep the engine from starting.

However a 164-11 or 164-00 can.

Did the engine just not start one day? Or did it shut off while drivng?

What scanner are you using?

Good morning Cat man, we are going to hook up a pressure gauge and manually check the pressure output of the HUI pump

OK sounds good. Please be very careful. High pressure oil can be dangerous.

The engine needs at least 870 psi to the injectors to start. There are plugs in the head to connect to.

Good morning Cat man, this is a C7 not a 3126, we puled the injectors and had them tested and found 2 completely dead and 1 with low delivery. I am waiting for a friend of mine to bring his computer over to program the injectors to the ecm. my question is this, will it do any harm if we try to start the truck before we program the injectors to the ecm, I have been told that it should run ok that the only issue would be that a future scan would not be able to identify which hole the injector is in

Hello Cat Man. we have the injectors in still not starting, we hooked up a gauge to the high pressure rail, when cranking it jumps to almost 3000 lbs then drops back to 500, is that enough to fire the injectors

Thanks for the information. The pressure must stay above 870 psi to start. You may have an oil leak at an injector. I would remove valve cover and crank the engine. If there is a leak you will see it.

Ok My Friend, here is where I am at with this C-7. we replaced 3 bad injectors, replaced the high coolant temp sensor, calibrated the injectors to the ecm, the high pressure oil pump is ok, our gauge was off. I installed a primer pump and have bled the air out of the system, it is cranking over and almost starts but just does not go all the way. I still need help but I also want to be able to give you another bonus

No that's not good pressure. The pressure needs to stay above 870 psi. It takes at least 870 to activate an injector. If yours is dropping down to 500. You have either a weak heui pump, leaking injector, or a misreading injection actuation pressure sensor.
