NOx Limits Exceeded Due to Insufficient Reagent Quality - Condition Exists. The diesel exhaust fluid quality is not sufficient enough to provide adequate mono-nitrogen oxide (NOx) reduction.

Possible engine power derate. Vehicle speed may also be limited.

The location of the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) tank is original equipment manufacturer (OEM) dependent. The SCR catalyst and aftertreatment NOx sensors are located in the vehicle's exhaust system.

The SCR control system is able to detect when anything other than pure DEF is in the DEF tank.

Possible causes of this fault include:

  • Malfunctioning DEF dosing system
  • Exhaust system leaks
  • Malfunctioning SCR catalyst
  • Degraded, diluted, or incorrect DEF
  • DEF deposits in decomposition tube.

Aftertreatment SCR Catalyst Conversion Efficiency - Data Valid But Below Normal Operating Range - Moderately Severe Level. NOx conversion across the SCR catalyst is too low.

The SCR catalyst is located in the vehicle's exhaust system, after the diesel particulate filter and decomposition tube.

Possible causes of this fault code include:

  • Malfunctioning diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) dosing system
  • Exhaust system leaks
  • Malfunctioning SCR catalyst
  • Degraded, diluted, or incorrect DEF
  • Diesel exhaust fluid deposits in decomposition tube.

Conditions for Clearing the Fault Codes

  • After completing a stationary regeneration and no additional faults become active, the repair has been validated.
