I'm working on a 2004 c5500 with 8.1. I changed fuel pump

Customer Question

I'm working on a 2004 c5500 with 8.1. I changed fuel pump and filter due to intermittent starting and stalling problem.
Now the truck only runs about 20 MPH. No longer does it stall but the max RPM is 2200. Fuel pressure on new pump is 60psi with key on and 54 or 55 when running

good morning my name is ***** ***** I will assist

56-62 is the spec for running. it is a little low but should work.

it sounds like you may have a restriction in the exhaust system. I would drop the front exhaust pipe and see if it is any better. other than that, it could be a timing issue between the crank and cam.
