Customer Question

Hi sir I have a 2009 KW ISX CUMMINS . Recently I started losing power and the truck doesn't speed up moe than 50mph on flat road. There is a loud alarm noise coming from the dash and it starts after 30 minutes from when I take off from a stopped location.

If you are getting a crankcase pressure code, change the filter for the crankcase. If you are getting too much pressure built up in the engine, you will lose power. It is a filter that is overlooked a lot on the engines. It should be changed each time you do the air filter.

You are letting the air in and the engine builds pressure, then seeps some of it in the crankcase. If you don;t let it out, it will slug the engine oil and cause power loss for the engine has to work hard to move.

Change the rankcase filter and see what it does.

If you are still getting that alarm and code, then it is time to remove the valve cover and then run the engine to see if you are getting any leaks from the cylinders into the crankcase causing the pressure to build up.
