yes, it needs to be timed. there are special tools required to perform this. if you do not have them, I would go to a truck shop with the back section and have them time it for you before installing

hi I phoned a transmission repair shop awhile back he said you don't need to time rear section to the front or does it depend on the model of trans mines a 16918b

every one we have done, and thats a lot, have to be timed or the shifting will be effected.

i called them today they said on an 18 speed you don't have to time the aux section to the front you time the front section then you time the aux so not sure whos right and they do transmissions everyday
