Code 154-14 is defined as Engine Protection System has Shutdown the engine.

This code is always associated with situations that can be detrimental to the engine or regeneration system. Most often I see it accompanying a high soot load code.

Do you have any other diagnostic codes?

no other codes and the engine is not in limp mode. Truck runs fine, just has the check engine light on.

The 154 -14 code is an ATA code. The J1939 code equivalent is 1110-31. These engines deliver codes in ATA and J1939. Since you read this code in ATA, there is most likely another code but it is in J1939.

In order to fully read all codes on there engines, one must use Cat ET and a Cat communication adapter 2 or 3, and be communicating in dual data link form.

What are you using to read the codes?

Unfortunately that tool is not able to read all of the codes on the engine. I am sorry. I am sure there are at least one other code in the ECM if you have a 154-14.

I really hate this. Cat has made there system only where their software can fully read and troubleshoot their engines. It not fair. I wish your tool could see the other codes.

Cat ET software is the only tool that can fully read these engines with regeneration systems.

Your local Cat dealer should be able to sell you a copy. If you work on a lot of C15 and C13 Cat engines with the DPF and regeneration system, I would recommend trying to get Cat ET.
