This means the nerve is getting pinched at the lower spine causing these symptoms.

Herniated disc, spine arthritis are such causes.

MRI scan of the lower spine is highly recommended for further evaluation.

You can try over the counter Ibuprofen ( Advil) 3 tablets with food every 8 hours for pain control.

Also Warm compress and over the counter Salonpas ointment ( topical lidocaine and menthol)3 times daily application over the painful area will help.

Please consider physical therapy as that will help to strengthen the back muscles and also traction to release pressure on the nerves.

Prescription medications Ketorolac, Gabapentin, Nortriptyline, Baclofen can be tried.

Epidural steroid injection offered by pain specialistsis also a good option for pain control for few months at a time.
