second opinion] Okay, I’m gonna push back on this a bit.So I have fasciculations throughout my entire body and some minor cramping. The twitching happens mostly while at rest.I also have tingling sometimes in my extremities. Hands and feet.I had an EMG. nerve testing and Neuro physical exam done in early December that came out normal.The Neurologist was confident I didn’t have ALS and it was likely BFS exacerbates by anxiety.The studies on people with BFS seem to be limited. There isn’t a ton of literature. The studies on BFS over time are even more limited.There are also studies that show a strong correlation between mental illness and an eventual ALS diagnosis. This includes depression. In psychiatric hospitals, people will sometimes be admitted, diagnosed with something and then develop ALS a year later.Here’s the problem:Some sources state that EMG neuro exam is the gold standard for detecting early ALS. Other studies and sources state that early ALS may be be missed in neuro emg exam.Also, this idea that fasciculations are super common is a bit of a misrepresentation. Yes, almost everyone twitches at some point or even regularly after they work out.But not everyone has inexplicable twitching throughout their body. Not everyone gets cramps associated with that twitching. Not everyone gets random tingling in their extremities.It’s really easy for you guys to dismiss these concerns and there are some sources that agree with you, but I’m not sure the actual data is as solid as you’re describing it. Especially when the BFS is more intense.
