Well not exactly, you need to actually purchase sterile water from a local pharmacy or sterile saline they do sell that. And you need to actually irrigate it out with that, the shower and the irrigation in the shower is probably going to make it worse because the calcium content in most tap water is too high and that's going to irritate the wound a little bit more. You actually have to go out and buy these

Yes this will heal by what they call secondary intention meaning that it will slowly close up overtime but that is provided that you keep all the bacteria out of it, if you get bacteria that remain in there then it will start to form an Abscess as it closes so it is really really vital. But overall as long as you keep this clean there is nothing to worry about and this will heal on its own

I know hydrogen peroxide is tempting but that will actually damage the tissue as it goes into the wound itself so it actually delays wound healing in this particular instance period to be honest I really do recommend sterile saline it is the best option available. Betadine is another option if you can pick up some of that or even something called Chlorhexidine but these are all found at local pharmacies. Don't you use hydrogen peroxide I sincerely ***** *****

if it's anaerobic bacteria then Clindamycin or metronidazole are the ideal options, but you do want to keep this covered if you can. After you irrigated put a piece of sterile gauze over it and then take that down to at least give it some additional protection.

OK that's still a reasonable antibiotic and that'll work quite well. Just make sure you're irrigating it and keep it as clean as possible that is going to be vital to your recovery

Perfect that's an ideal irrigating agent and that will not damage the underlying tissues. Good plan

Yeah so you want to irrigate it with the Chlorhexidine and then rinse it off with sterile water if you have that available. The Chlorhexidine is a great antiseptic but ideally you don't want to leave it in that open wound it'll slow the healing process down, it's not a huge deal I have to say so if you do leave some in there it's not a big deal but ideally we like to rinse out all the additional Chlorhexidine after it's been applied
