Hi I’m 31 male. I got diagnosed with reflux about a year ago, haven’t really ever had bad symptoms like this before

Dear customer

Thank you for being online.

The symptoms you have described is mostlikely due to GERD(gastro esophageal reflux disease). It is a condition in which the esophagus becomes irritated or inflamed because of acid backing up from the stomach.

Also there can be associated gastritis. It is an inflammation or irritation of the lining of the stomach. It is caused by a various causes like physical stresses, social habits, chemicals, and infections, excessive use of Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

The following are the tests that confirm the GERD:

-Upper endoscopy/ esophagogastroduodenoscopy(EGD)

-Barium swallow

You are on the right medication. Continue taking nexium & pepto.

If still the symptoms persists, then you may need shots/injectable medications accordingly.

You need to make some dietary changes along with medications.

· Avoid chocolate, peppermint, fatty foods, coffee, and alcoholic beverages.

· Avoid beans, cabbage, and carbonated beverages.

· If you are overweight, loose some weight.

· You should remain away from stress and anxiety.

· Start practicing Yoga and meditation.

Also you should eat meals at least 2 to 3 hours before bedtime.

All this will help you greatly.

Nothing to worry here.

Thank you

Thank you, it’s just every time the symptoms kind of go away (I’m hungry cause I’m scared to eat) it comes back. I do have anxiety which I believe is making this worse but I keep feeling the burn in my chest and throat. I have cut back on a lot of the stuff you mentioned and I definitely believe it’s gerd. Just not sure how long this lasts for if it’s been going for 4 days now.

This may take couple of days to weeks to subside.

Please continue with the same medication.

Yes,stress & anxiety is the major aggravating factor. Take measures to relieve your stress and anxiety.

Also you need to have an upper endoscopy & H.pylori testing.

All this will help you greatly.

Nothing to worry here.

Thank you.
