It would be fine to take the second medication. The extra 200mg of guaifenesin (the main ingredient of Mucinex) should not cause any issues.
It depends on how she is feeling. If her symptoms are improving over the next day or two, she probably is okay. If she is getting worse or if she develops fever, chest pain, or shortness breath, that would be a reason to see someone.
