Hello, this is Dr. Pennington.

I am not sure what your question is exactly.

It sounds like his shunt is no longer working. Is it an adjustable shunt? Did they adjust it?

What did the neurosurgeon want to do to proceed?

R u a neurosurgeon? Question I asked what ct scan said “again demonstrated laminar layer over convexities bilaterally and enlarged ventricles”

My husband is a neurosurgeon, I am just a surgeon.

The CT scan indicates hydrocephalus.

I hope he can get the shunt adjusted.

the ct report indicates that
What does again noted laminar layer over convecities mean

It is a layer of cerebral spinal fluid that is filling the ventricles of the brain (normal cavities in the brain) until they are over-extended and forming a chronic layer of thickened fluid that cannot drain normally. The CSF is normally taken up and recycled through something called arachnoid granulations, and this process had become blocked and the ventricles are expanded, causing symptoms. Frequently gets better with shunting, but shunts are problematic at times.

I hope that makes it more clear.

What. Causes anachoif grznulations to become blocked
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
What causes granulation to become blocked and my husband having that layer does that mean ventricles are overloaded with fluid

Yes, there is to much fluid on the brain. We do not know why NPH happens. It's not that the fluid is blocked from being absorbed, the mechanism of absorption just stops working over time, which is why the pressure remains normal. It happens very slowly. Sorry I could not call yesterday, I hope another provider called you.
