Customer Question
Hi: I take my...

Hi: I take my sugar content every morning and today the readings were too high: 200. After taking another pill of metformin, the reading went down to 130. I'm normally below 100. What could be the reason of this burst up? Sergio(87)

Doctor's Assistant: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?

I take 2.5 pills of Metformin 850 mg. One in the morning and 1.5 at night. After the high reading this morning, I took 2 pills of 850 mg. Not allergic. Sergio

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

As per my personal doctor I'm in good shape for my age, which was 87 on 01-07-1931. I take medication for blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar.Sergio

I am sorry about your glucose levels.

your diet or your age and your pancreas is most likely causing your gluose levels.

eating more carbohydrates can cause higher blood sugar levels

if you have kept your diet the same, it could be declines of your pancreas function, your pancreas is not making enough insulin production.

I may have to add to my initial question the point of: with those sugar high readings, do have to go to the hospital Emergency Room, which I cannot do t because my wife is sick and I cannot leave her alone. S
Customer reply replied 2 months ago
Did you received the cc correct number????????????
Doctor: Dr. David, Board Certified Physician replied 2 months ago

no, with those readings of 130, you don't have to go to the ER

you should continue to care for your wife

stress from caring for your sick wife can sometimes cause elevated blood sugar levels temporarily

Are you still there? There anything that I my eat: fruit. bread, cheese, coffee.....
Doctor: Dr. David, Board Certified Physician replied 2 months ago

you can have these foods of cheese, coffee.

avoid bread and gluten and carbohydrates from white flour and pasta and bread. these are empty calories and turn to sugar in your blood stream and drive up your blood glucose levels.
