I discontinued HRT and gained 20 pounds over the last 10 months. Can this possibly cause a weight gain.

Doctor's Assistant: What are your symptoms? Have you used any medication for this?

I am just just uncomforable because I have neve been this weight. I went from 155-175.

Doctor's Assistant: Have you seen a doctor about this?

Yes, yesterday. She said we should just watch it for 2 months. I do eat health,y most of the time, vegetables and fish. I have been in the gym with a trainer 2 days per week for the last 3 months. I walk, in the past week, I have walked 3.19 miles per day. The sudden weight gain is unusual. I am very distressed because my blood pressure is rising also. I am concerned about how my health could deteriorate over the next two months.

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

I have Hypothyroidism controlled on synthroid. My TSH and other T levels are good

Can the sudden stopping of estrogen cause fast weight gain? This is my main question
It can - because if you haven’t changed your eating habits, you haven’t changed your activity level and your thyroid tests are normal, then it is most likely the hormones— the lack of it.
Ask Your Own Medical Question
That being said, there are risks to taking hormone replacement long term.

I would recommend looking at your diet and making some changes. My post menopausal patients have had success with the ketogenic diet — specifically the keto zone diet by Dr. Colbert

It actually shouldn’t be called a diet— it should be called a lifestyle change. I just saw a patient today who lost 30 lbs in 5 months, and she doesn’t feel deprived. She feels healthier and happier.

I know. I have. Regular mama grams, no History of breat disease in the family and I breastfeed for years.
I will check out the diet.
Stay motivated and move towards your goal. It will be worth it. I wish you all the best!

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.
