Can propranolol be taken with valsartan. I am taking

Customer Question
Can propranolol be taken...

Can propranolol be taken with valsartan

Doctor's Assistant: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?

Yes, I am taking propranolol, avortastatin, 81 mg aspirin, areds 2 preservision, vitamin D3 1000 and I am just about to start Valsartan. I want to make sure there is no conflict with any of these other medicines.

Doctor's Assistant: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?

I take all of those medicines daily. I am not allergic to any medicines.

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

I have benn taking propranolol for over 30 years and it has kept my blood pressure normal. All of a sudden my blood has spiked for the last 5 months. It is averaging 180 over 83 and my heart rate averages 48. My doctor is prescribing that I add valsartan and I just want to be sure that there are no conflicts.

Hello. These medications are often given together. They are usually well tolerated. Because they are both blood pressure medications, there is the possibility that, together, they will bring the pressures down too much, though this is not that common. Try to monitor your blood pressures in the days and weeks following any changes to your medications. Keep a record and call your doctor's office if you feel you are experiencing any unwanted side effects.
