Customer Question
I had a stool...

I had a stool test done and the result reads: Rare (1+) WBCs seen. What does this mean?

Doctor's Assistant: What are all the symptoms you're experiencing (e.g. loss of appetite, fever, rash)?

High eosinophils in bloodwork, stomach pain, nausea, headache, but no diarrhea. Negative ultrasound for gallbladder, pancreatitis, etc

Doctor's Assistant: Is the headache episodic or daily? And what about nausea?

All symptoms have been almost five weeks, and daily/all day

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

History of acute pancreatitis. But bloodworm and ultrasound rule out anything with the pancreas

if you have inflammation in your bowels and colon, you can see rare white blood cells in your stool

this can be from irritation of your bowels from gluten, or lactose or poor diet or inflammatory bowel disease in some patients

34;Rare (1+) WBC seen" on a lab report basically means "positive" for WBC. It was the "rare" part that confuses me, what exactly does that mean??
Doctor: Dr. David, Board Certified Physician replied 4 months ago

that means there are not a lot of white blood cells in your stool.

it is not commonly seen in your stool

so there is not a lot of inflammation in your stool.

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.
