Customer Question
When I bend down...

When I bend down I have to move really slowly & even more slowly when I straighten back up.

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

Also some discomfort in the heart area & under right rib cage

Doctor's Assistant: Do you know if your family has a history of heart disease? In general, how would you describe your health lately?

My father had heart disease. My general health is pretty good.

Hello -

Why are you moving slowly when you straighten back up -- is it pain? Or weakness? Balance issues? Feeling like you are going to faint? Something else?

How old are you?

I guess it's a tightness & discomfort in my chest. I also have balance problems, especially in the morning, & yes it feels like I could faint if I move too fast.

I'm 62.
Doctor: Dr. Mark, Physician / Surgeon replied 4 months ago

OK.

Have you discussed the tightness and discomfort in your chest with your doctor? Have they done any testing for this?

Ask Your Own Medical Question

No, I'm supposed to have a stress teat done, which I think was ordered by a specialist.

Also a lot of burping & bloated stomach....
Doctor: Dr. Mark, Physician / Surgeon replied 4 months ago

OK.

Certainly a lot of things which could be causing your symptoms.

A stress test is a good way to start by looking at the function of your heart with exercise, to make sure there isn't an issue with cardiac disease which could be causing the discomfort in your chest.

Another potential issue for chest tightness could be acid reflux (GERD) which could also contribute to your burping and bloated stomach issues.

Another issue in your lower back and balance issues would be "spinal stenosis", which could be evaluated with MRI imaging of the spine. But that typically would not cause tightness and discomfort in the chest area, though theoretically "pinched" nerves in the lower cervical spine (neck) could cause chest pain -- but generally with arm pain as well.

Best of luck, but starting with EKG and stress test sounds like you are on the right track.
