Hello, my question is can I take motherwort with atenolol?. I am 35 years old female have high blood pressure and palpitations. My PCP thinks its from anxiety. I have seen cardiologist and had normal echo/stress test. I take atenolol 12.5 mg once a day but still have BP 130/90-150/100 and just feel miserable. Thank you

Doctor's Assistant: How long have you been dealing with this? Is there anything in particular that seems to make the symptoms better or worse?

For the past 3-4 months. No it just comes randomly

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

I have chronic GERD and take prilosec 20mg daily, I also suffer from migraines, but only take tylenol/advil for that

For the past 3 months I occasional had elevated BP but now for the last two weeks almost every day. I do take my BP in the morning and thru out the day because I don’t feel well. I feel nauseous, very fatigued, lightheaded, foggy

Thanks for the information.

Yes, you can take motherwort with atenolol without having any major side effects. However, its interaction with atenolol is not well studied, but most people do not have any problem. If it's anxiety related, then you can ask your doctor for a proper anxiety meds to control your symptoms.

Please leave a positive rating by clicking stars on your screen so that I can get the credit for my time with you. If you have any follow-up question, you can reply to this post.

I was wondering what might be the cause for elevated BP? Like I said I’m 35 years old, I don’t smoke or drink, I weight 127 lbs not over weight, fairly active. May be you have any ideas or suggestions for me. I had normal stress/echo.
I don’t understand why I have all those symptoms..

Since you do not have any other known medical condition, it is considered as essential hypertension. The cause of essential hypertension is unknown, although lifestyle factors such as obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and excessive alcohol or salt intake contribute to the condition. It's not possible to identify the exact cause of high BP in many cases. However, we can manage high BP effectively so that you don't land up in complication. Try to be healthy, better life style, healthy diet, and exercise. You need to rule out anxiety so that your dose can be adjusted to control your BP.

I hope it helps.
