Hi, I just went...

Hi, I just went to my PCP and my blood work showed a slight elevation in my liver enzymes. The doctor said it was no very high but ordered blood test for hepatitis and an abdominal ultrasound. Now I am going through menopause and am having a panic attack thinking I can have liver or pancreatic cancer. All my other labs were fine, just a little high the cholesterol. Please let me know if this is bad?

Doctor's Assistant: When did cancer begin? Have you used any medication for it?

I was not diagnosed with cancer I just scared the elevated liver enzymes might mean cancer.

Doctor's Assistant: When was your last doctor visit? What did you discuss?

Yesterday and we looked at my labs which showed a slight elevated liver enzymes which he said was not very high but said if I had ever had or have hepatitis. I have never had it that I know of.

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

Just that I am going through menapause and have high blood pressure that I take meds for.

I am overweight but have been losing weight because of my high blood pressure. I am taking Nifedipine 60 mg daily and have been taking Tylenol lately for pain of a cebacious cyst I had that got infected. But I do not take the Tylenol every day.

Thank you for the input.
Many conditions can cause elevated liver enzymes.
Obesity, alcohol, medication can have effects.
Hepatitis or infection, fatty liver are common causes.
Biliary obstruction can cause a rise in liver enzymes.
So doctor has ordered an ultrasonogram.
As the levels are mildly elevated, it does not indicate cancer.
You should not worry about cancer.

Overweight can be a factor.
I hope this information will be helpful.
If you have any query, please feel free to ask.
Your satisfaction is my goal.
If you are happy with my answer please click on 5 star rating so that I can get the credit for helping you.
Wish you healthy life.

One last question I was reading a mans story that he had mild elevated liver enzymes and it ended up being pancreatic cancer. I am very scared?

He might have other symptoms and findings.

To rule out all the possibilities, your doctor has ordered further tests.
