Doctor's Assistant: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?

No... and no, I’m no longer are on any meds

Doctor's Assistant: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?

Not allergic to any meds. Taking medication that I’ve been taking for nearly a year prior to my surgery.

Two weeks out, the surgery will not cause such a complication or side effect. From the surgical point of view, you should not be worried.

Both the procedures you had, do not breach any body cavities and should not cause a hiccup as a symptom. However, your diet, activity changes, and medication can cause stomach irritation leading to hiccups or gasps.

you wouldn’t suspect any blood clots in my lungs?
Doctor: Dr Uzair, Doctor replied 1 month ago

Not at all. Pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs) present with very frank symptoms. Shortness of breath, chest pain, bloody cough etc. This is definitely not a blood clot. Relax!

Hope this helps.

Please do leave a 5-star rating for the service.

Best wishes.

Doctor: Dr. Shah, Doctor replied 1 month ago

Ok, how often you get this hiccup? Is it after eating, or doing something, I mean any recognized trigger?

Ask Your Own Medical Question
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
No recognized triggers at all. It just comes & goes??? I would say I notice it maybe 4 to 6 times per day
Doctor: Dr. Shah, Doctor replied 1 month ago

Thanks for the information.

It does not sound like a serious problem. It's also not nerve damage or CNS related. Most likely, it's due to minor triggers. Some of the commonly reported triggers are:

  • Drinking carbonated beverages
  • Drinking too much alcohol
  • Eating too much
  • Excitement or emotional stress
  • Sudden temperature changes
  • Swallowing air with chewing gum or sucking on candy

I am more inclined towards emotion/stress related. The frequency of hiccup is also very low and does not indicate anything major.

Please leave a positive rating by clicking stars on your screen so that I can get the credit for my time with you. If you have any follow-up question, you can reply to this post.

Regards,

Dr. Shah
