It began at the bottom of my feet several years ago, has moved up to just below knees and my feet are getting number. I was in great physical condition un til I woke up one morning weak and unstable. The ER diagnosed a tia burst, low sodium or Don't know. Unyil then my trainers daid that I was a poster boy for men younger than me. I am 82

First-line treatments for neuropathy are;

1) tricyclic antidepressants,

2) gabapentin

3 pregabalin, and

4) topical lidocaine 5% patch.

Second line treatment:

Opioids,

tramadol,

capsaicin cream, and

capsaicin 8% patch.

Therapies that have demonstrated effectiveness for other types of neuropathic pain including neuropathy;

serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors,

carbamazepine and valproic acid, and

botulinum toxin.

Invasive procedures such as sympathetic blockade, intrathecal steroids, and implantable spinal cord stimulators also are good for neuropathy.
