Leukocyte Esterase -Ua 500/leu/ul. I am currently taking antibiotics. Should I be worried about these abnormal results? Is any further testing indicated?

Hello and thank you for your question. My name is***** am a board-certified physician with over 15 years of clinical experience and I am happy to help you. Can you tell me please, are you having any fever or chills? Any nausea or vomiting? And have any UTI symptoms such as burning with urination, frequent/urgent need to urinate, decreased or resolved since you started taking the antibiotics?

Customer reply replied 6 months ago
No fever, chills, nausea or vomiting. Yes, the UTI symptoms have decreased. I do still have pain under my ribs on the right side and some discomfort in back below my shoulder area.

Thank you for that information, I'm glad to hear that your symptoms are improving. Since you are not having any of the more concerning symptoms of fever, chills, nausea or vomiting, and you are getting better, I would not be concerned about the findings you had on the urinalysis. All of those results are classic with a UTI. They should resolve once you've completed your antibiotics and if you like you can request your doctor repeat the test to double check, but not absolutely necessary.

Any other questions I can answer for you today?
