34 Male, 240 lbs, 6 foot 2. no nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence sometimes but not abnormal. No diabetes or hypertension. Alcohol is 3-6 drinks once a week (friday or a saturday, rarely drink more than that either in volume or frequency). No medicines. Don't have AST readings, and I don't have specific HDL numbers only that they were slightly low. I have do not have any symptoms of anything wrong, this was the result of a routine physical. feel fine otherwise

Thanks for the follow-up.
I understand your concern.
As per your description, the normal range of ALT is between 7 to 56 units per liter.

Normal range can vary.

However, your ALT result is not so concerning and it can be caused due to alcohol consumption.
So, you should limit it or discontinue it for a while and repeat fasting Liver function test should be done.

HDL is good Cholesterol. The normal range is 35 to 65 mg/dL.

If its slightly low then you should take dietary changes like

Consume Extra virgin olive oil, a low-carb or ketogenic diet, Eat fatty fish often.

I wouldn't worry so much about your results as you don't have any symptoms also.

"I sincerely ***** ***** I have helped you and that I have earned my 5-star rating today!

OK, my Dr had said their normal range went up to 40. He requested that I abstain from alcohol for a month and retest. It's possible that this could be a one off thing? my dietary and drinking habits were worse than they should be during the holidays

Thank you for replying back.

Yes, I agree with your doctor and you should abstain from alcohol and fat-rich food.

And take a bland diet and eat lots of fruits, green leafy vegetables.

You shouldn't worry as this is not so concerning about liver damage.

It's very slightly raised and can be reversible.

You should maintain a good hydration.

Your results will come back to normal.

I hope this answers your question. If you would like to discuss this further or have any additional questions, please reply to my answer and I will get right back to you.
Please avoid poor/bad rating.
Please leave positive rating by clicking 5 stars above the chat box if you are satisfied with our conversation.
