I was put on Xarelto 20 mg last Thursday--once a day dose…

Customer Question
I was put on...

I was put on Xarelto 20 mg last Thursday--once a day dose with dinner. Tonight I mistakenly took an extra 20mg tablet. Tomorrow I am scheduled to have a cardioversion at our local hospital. Do I need to do something about this error in dosage?

Doctor's Assistant: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?

Amlodopine 5 mg, Metoprolol ER 50mg and vitamins. Do you need me to list all of them?

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

I'm also allergic to Celebrex, Lisinopril, and Sulfa.

I understand your concern.
As per your description, Since Xarelto is an anticoagulant.

Although the bleeding risk would be expected to increase with increasing dose, the amount of risk from a single extra dose is still low and not sufficient to cause concern.

If any bleeding occurs, it would be appropriate to be seen your doctor ASAP.

You can miss your next dose.

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.
