Do you have the rest of the blood profile such as the RDW and MCV?

Ask Your Own Medical Question
Customer reply replied 7 months ago
RDW 22.1 high and MCV 78 low
Doctor: Dr. Mo, Board Certified MD replied 7 months ago

The WBC you posted isn't quite elevated, though slightly above normal it's not pathologically abnormal. We usually worry about values past 13.5.

As for the RBC, this can be high due to dehydration, certain things in his diet or medications. With the RDW at 22.1, the RBC of 7.1 isn't of concern.

If the iron is low the the RBC will be elevated to try to compensate for the low iron. But they can also have a proportional relationship. It doesn't matter unless the patient is severely anemic.
