What is the most successful medication prescribed for patients with pain from osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia?

Doctor's Assistant: What about weight? Is it in a healthy range?

Yes, I'm 125 lbs and 5'3", 63 years old.

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

I take atenolol for blood pressure (slight dose of 25mg). I have osteoporosis at a minus 2 level. I walk about 2 miles to 3 miles nearly every day. I take multivitamins. Insomnia from the fibromyalgia is really debilitating.

Hi, I am an American Board Certified Neurologist with vast experience in diagnosing & treating all neurological as well as all other health/medical conditions, and I am very glad to help you with your health concerns.

I see you have inquired about the most successful medication prescribed for patients with pain from OA (Osteoarthritis) and FMS (Fibromyalgia syndrome). As a Neurologist I frequently diagnose & treat this type of health situation and I can certainly help you in this regard.

Please see there are plenty of medication treatments available for managing the pain from OA (Osteoarthritis) & FMS (Fibromyalgia syndrome), but since each individual may respond to certain meds differently so the same med may not help each and every individual. In otherwords there is no single best med that can help each and every patient.

However the clinical experience shows the following are some of the most helpful meds that can help in relieving the pain from OA & FMS;

A) Prescriptions medications that can help;

Tramadol

Duloxetine

Milnacipran

Gabapentin etc

B) Non-prescriptions over the counter med (herbal or natural or supplement treatment);

SAMe (S Adenosyl Methionine) is among the most helpful non-prescription medication that can help patients with pain from OA & FMS

If insomnia from FMS is a major and debilitating issue then using another over the counter non-prescription supplement preparation called as 5 HTP (5 Hydroxy Tryptophan) can help. It can help with relief from the pain from OA and FMS, as well as help with insomnia too.

The above are some of the best/most successful and very commonly used prescription and non-prescription meds and supplement preparations that are very helpful in obtaining relief from the bothersome and annoying pain from OA & FMS, as well as debilitating insomnia from these conditions.

Wishing you the best health!

All the very best!

Please let me know if you have any additional questions or if you want to discuss this further.

Assuring you the best services!

Best Regards!

Thank you to the Physician who answered my question today. The answer was far more informative than what I got from the Physicians I saw in person for my problem.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.
