Hello, this is Dr. David. I am reviewing your question now and will be with you momentarily.

it sounds like you had a brain MRI scan or CT Scan

the venticles are the large fluid filled cavities in the brain, the lateral ventricles.

if there is more fluid in them, these ventricles can be a bit more prominent,

as we get older, the brain can strink a bit and this can cause the ventricles to be a bit more prominent.

when the brain shrinks a bit, the cortial sulcus or ridges in the brain can also become a bit more prominent as well

this can be seen in some patients who have some brain atrophy or shrinkage of the brain

the brain can shrink a bit as we get older from poor circulation, lack of exercise, poor nutrition, smoking, etc.

let me know if you have questions.

Could this have been from the concussion and is there a medical name for this
Doctor: Dr. David, Board Certified Physician replied 7 months ago

most likely the concussion did not cause these findings.

you can ask your doctor and radiologist who did the procedure

but you could have something called mild brain atrophy or mild shrinkage of the brain tissue

which can cause the ventricles to be a bit more prominent and for the cortical sulcus to be a bit more prominent

this brain atrophy can occur commonly as we get older.

Let me know if you have other questions.
