What causes my ins...

What causes my ins to drop. on warfarin. not eating greens, no change in medicines or diet

Doctor's Assistant: What medications do you take daily? Are you allergic to any medications?

(aorta valve replacement). No change in medecine. No eating green vegetables. Warfarin, atenolol pravastatin lactulose ispasghula husk.. What seems curious, is that nothing is changed except my INR. I also take beetroot juice and lots of nuts,but have done so for years. no allergies.

My wife has Alzheimers, and I am her carer. Causes some stress.

Well a number of different factors can cause a fluctiating INR. These include using medications / food that may interact with warfarin, taking warfarin at different times ( not fixed) , stress, OTC medications, diarrhea, use of OTC medications with possible effect on INR etc.

If there is none of the above factors in your case then taking vitamin K1 supplements on regular bases at fixed hour of the day can help stabilize your INR.

You may like to reduce the level of stress that could be something having an impact on your INR.
