Customer Question
Hi, im worried about...

Hi, im worried about my best guy friend, and wanted to know if i need to intervene on him right now. He's an addict and alcoholic. A few weeks ago he tried to stop drinking on his own and had a seizure. I thought he was dead in my arms, so i cant tell if im being hypervigilant right now or just respinsible. But he just said his foot hurts and when he took off his sock, his foot was all swollen. He says he hasnt had a drink, but he has taken over 100mg of adderall since yesterday. Ive never seen that and my instinct says to call an ambulance. I looked up adderall doses and the max dose is 60mg so i dont know -- i just feel like he could die from evidently any number of substances at any moment. I have no idea what else is in his system. Can u advise?

Doctor's Assistant: Any recent injuries? How long have you been dealing with the swelling?

Just the seizure, which i think the doctor said was from alcohol poisining.

Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

I dont have his lab results tho from that day so i dont really know he could be on any number of drugs

so it is just one leg swollen?

His right foot is swollen, and he says it's painful. He's also dramatic so im not totally understanding whaf he means by too painful to walk on, but it is grossly swollen so i dont know what to think. I asked him to be honest about how much of fhe adderall he took, bc this feels very addict-y to me. He said he's not sure the exact amount but 100mg was lowballing it. He says probably closer to 200mg. He's not having any other odd symtoms at the moment but i should call an ambulance, right? I cant wait to watch him seize in front of me again. I dont care if he gets angry

I appreciate ur help. At this rate, i might end up checking myself in along with him from the panic he so easily inspires this month! Ay.

Yes, I would. Alcohol withdrawal is actually one of the few that can be deadly

seizure is the least of it. If he goes into full blown DTs then he could die

the foot sounds like gout (common in alcoholics)

but I would call. Yes
