My tonsil looks swollen and black on one side. It is hard

Customer Question

My tonsil looks swollen and black on one side. It is hard for me to swallow any food or drink. I had mono before and my tonsils were much swallow then but my tonsil is swollen enough right now for me to feel it quite easily with slight movement of my tongue. Would you be able to help?
JA: Any recent injuries? How long have you been dealing with the swelling?
Customer: It has been about 2 days with constant irritation when swallowing and I just checked my throats right now. I am guessing it started 2 days ago.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: I had mono when I was 17. I am 19 right now. I had the chills last night and thought that I was running a fever but could get myself to get out of bed and check it.
