What advice do you have for people who are taking lipidor in light of recent reports statens are ineffective in controlling cholestorol?
JA: Do you know if your family has a history of heart disease? In general, how would you describe your health lately?
Customer: No history of heart disease. My general health is good. The only medication I take is aspirin 81 and lipidor. Blood pressure is good; my weight is good; I do not smoke and drink a glass of wine daily.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?

statins are good at reducing cholesterol

but the idea is to prevent stroke or heart attack risks.

The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF), released its own recommendation last year.

Those who stand to benefit most from preventive statins, they said, have at least one other risk factor -- such as hypertension, diabetes or smoking -- in addition to a 10% risk on the same calculator.

you can do your risk calculator here.

and see what your risks are

that is good your blood pressure is good and you don't smoke. do you have diabetes?

you should do your calculator and see what your risks are.

good, no diabetes

you should do this risk calculator and check what your risks for heart attack and stroke are

if your risks are less than 10%, you may not need the lipitor.
