JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: ?
JA: What confuses you?
Customer: I already spoke to you and submitted my question and I have not been directed to a doctor for my question
JA: Sorry about that. I must have missed it. Could you tell me again?

Hello I'm Dr Chip

Besides the joint pain any other symptoms?

And is this a rheumatologist that's suggesting the Plaquenil?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
my rheumatologist. I have dry eyes and reoccurring joint pain. I have synovitus of my knee. I am low positive Ana 1:40 with speckled pattern and positive SSB but the rest of my blood work is fine.
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Are you still there?
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 2 months ago.

So your only joint problem is the one knee?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Last year it was both knees but now it is only my left knee. I do have neck joint stiffness and joint pain on and off in hips and arms
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 2 months ago.

OK

And have you been given any medications to treat this before he suggested the Plaquenil?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Just myloxicam
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 2 months ago.

Just one more question--what worries you exactly about the Plaquenil?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Reading the side effects mainly the potential of losing vision
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Plus I am taking progesterone and estrogen and there were a couple cases of interactions causing an aneurysm
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 2 months ago.

Well that's really a very rare side effect of the drug--the vision problem at least

But have you discussed your concern with the rheumatologist?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 2 months ago.

OK

Sorry for all my questions but may I ask exactly what your question is for me?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Without a definite diagnosis and more of an indication that I might have sjogrens, should I be taking such a strong drug at this point?
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 2 months ago.

I understand

Yes--you don't have a definitive diagnosis as yet

You need to get the following tests--

SSA as well as the SSB

Rheumatoid factor

Sed rate

IgS antibodies

A sialogram test of your salivary glands

And possibly a salivary gland biopsy

Only once all those were done could a definitive diagnosis of Sjogrens be made
