If I have afib and I get a pacemaker will the afib

Customer Question

If I have afib and I get a pacemaker will the afib disappear?
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: None. I have a pacemaker and my doctor says I may also have afib.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: I am 85, I don't have any symptons, I work out 3-5 times a week and go on trips for work quite frequently

Pacemaker placement will not correct the atrial fibrillation

Your doctor will need to give you drugs for atrial fibrillation or another option is a radiofrequency ablation but it is unlikely to go with pace maker placement

Good luck

You are not answering. Can I have afib with no symptoms at all? Can the afib can be covered up by the pacemaker, because the pacemaker keeps my heart rhythm at 60 beats per second?
Expert:  DR.EHTISHAM replied 2 months ago.

Alright yes the pacemaker can keep the heart rate within a normal limit and thus serve as a rate control drug. Atrial fibrillation can be silent so you can be asymptomatic in that case

Good luck
