Customer Question

I have an infection lump (boil?) forming on the lower butt and want to know if a "drawing salve" will help it clear up. Had this about 2 years ago and had to finally go to doctor. Same spot this time
JA: How long have you had the lump? Is it hard or soft?
Customer: It feels like a round rubbery pea. A bit tinder when I squeeze it lightly. On vacation and just noticed it yesterday when bathing.
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: I take Remacaid for RA but am generally healthy

Hi there,
This is Dr Basu, experienced Internal Medicine Specialist.
I am here to address your concerns and provide great service.

Remicade can weaken your immune system and hence increases the risk of bacterial infection.
The boil or abscess is caused by the bacterial infection like staphylococci commonly.
Hence antibiotic course and drainage of the boil are required for proper treatment.
You should see your doctor soon to avoid any spread related complication.
Best wishes,
It was my pleasure to help you today.
