Hi there. The polio vaccine 65 years ago was the Salk vaccine, given by injection. It used inactivated forms of the virus. It prevented polio infection from getting into the bloodstream. The inactivated polio vaccines are very safe. They confer protection in up to 99% of individuals when administered as recommended. They do not use live virus so there is no worry about "active" virus ever getting into the body. So there would be NO risk of it affecting you at this time.

Hope this is helpful. Let me know if you have any follow up questions.

You have been more help than you know. I seriously don't know what my sisters situation would be today if you had not gone above and beyond just answering my questions.
