Hello I'm Dr Chip

Where are these swollen nodes located and what would bring you to the ER?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
In my neck and under my jaw right between the ear
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 1 month ago.

How long have they been swollen?

And, again--what would bring you to the ER?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I went to the e.r because I noticed they were swollen and I freak out thinking it cancer. They have been swollen for a year now
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 1 month ago.

OK

When they first got swollen were you having some sort of infection like throat or ear?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
I had a sore throat and felt like something was stuck in my throat they did some x-rays but nothing was found
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 1 month ago.

Did the ER doctor do any blood work or any other studies to evaluate the nodes?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
No they did not
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 1 month ago.

OK

How exactly can I help you with this?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.
Doctor I'm just stressing preparing myself for the worst case scenario I'm only 28 and I don't know what to do from here just need to know what should I look out for and what to do
Expert:  Dr Chip (M.D.) replied 1 month ago.

I understand

First off, this doesn't sound like cancer to me--as in lymphoma or leukemia or throat/neck cancer

But what you need to do at this point is to see a primary care physician for an exam and blood work.

Most likely the nodes are what we call reactive--from an infection you had--sometimes they stay enlarged for quite some time after that.

But again, I don't think you need to worry about cancer
