Customer Question

I I have a question about HIV transmission. My husband cousin has HIV and he came over to our home and my husband gave him a hair cut. My question is can HIV be transmitted through the hair that was on the towel he used to cut and was his hair or the hair itself?. I'm asking because my 13 year old daughter handled the towel

Hello I'm Dr Chip

Absolutely no need for any concern here--

HIV can only be transmitted through body fluids--rarely with saliva, but with blood or semen or vaginal secretions

The virus isn't present in the hair and handling an HIV patients hair can't possibly transmit the virus

So no need for her to see a doctor
