Hi Dr!-- my name...
Hi Dr!-- my name is*****'m a nurse, semi retired from working with an Internests x20 years. I'm 63yrs,very active and have been in good health my whole life. The only Rx I take is Synthroid .05mg 1dailyx 30yrs. Oh ya, I'm white female. Ok, approx 8-10 yrs ago my feet became very painful @ times, I mean take your breath away pain! They have always appeared normal, but 4-5 yrs ago my ankles bilateral, have turned a blotchy purple: UGLY! The coloring darkens at times, but never goes away. I have gone to PCP, then to a foot dr, both shrugged there shoulders and told me : CAD, and that is what it looks like! I told my PCP it wasn't and he just looked at me frowning(understandably),but I know my body, and I'm the opposite of a smart---! Anyway I went to a Vein Dr in town, he did quite a work up, including bilateral leg ultrasounds! All the tests, to everyone's surprise , were WNL! No regurgitation of any veins; no varicose veins! There is no ryme or reason to the pain except when the pressure drops because of an incoming storm. Sometimes they hurt when I get up in morning, sometimes none all day! That I can control with Motrin! BUT the discoloring is awful and embarresing! I try covering w/ make-up, Nothing hides it! I Alove wearing dresses and shorts,but----! Do you have any queers or know of some good theater makeup? Thankyou so very much for your time Dr!
Doctor's Assistant: What seems to make the symptoms worse or better? Have you noticed any swelling?
Sorry about spell check OMG! Anyway--yes if I cut or nick myself below the knees,so I'm very careful, but otherwise a little if I'm on my feet a very long time! Symptoms? Ha that's what is sooo wierd, they can hurt just out of bed, and HURT all day, then the next day hardly anything! Keeping my weight done, keeping away from salt for Sure helps! It's a head scratcher for sure and I know your limitations not examining them, but just wanted your view (blind)!
Doctor's Assistant: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
No not really, but I know this is a nerve thing! I was in an accident at age 18, this sounds gruesome, I was on a 10 speed bike, going down a steep hill. The breaks went out, I tried to turn it, and hit a tall picket fence face first, breaking all the bones on the right side, tearing my nerve in half (the one next to my right eye)! Not fun! Well, 9 hours later, hear I am! The nerve did grow back 90% and I looked normal about a year later! I did read any major trauma or damage to Any nerve can cause nerve pain to a completely different one! Call me vain, but my ankles bother me as much or more than my face did! Oh well!
