Customer Question

I have had a cough now for weeks. It started with a cold - which seemed like a classical head cold, but symptoms kept shifting from a runny nose, to a terrible cough with chest pain, a really sore throat etc. From week to week one or the other symptom was worse. Last week I felt almost 100% better, also the cough was much more manageable, I just had a sore throat which got better towards the weekend. This week the cough is worse again and I feel pressure in my chest. Even my voice is affected again.
JA: How long have you had the symptoms? Do you have a fever?
Customer: 4 weeks in total, no fever
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: Not that I can think of. I'm generally a healthy person. I exercise a lot and I eat healthily.

This sounds like classic reactive airway disease

do you have allergies or asthma?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
No Asthma or known allergies.

In that case, this sounds like you could be developing pneumonia

You need to be seen and have a chest xray as soon as you can.

is this helpful?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Not really. I'm looking for a solution of how I can get better - not antibiotics or chest x-rays.
Expert:  Dr. Phil, MD replied 7 months ago.

Yes, but you may need antibiotics to clear the infection
