How do I know when what I think is an intestinal virus

Customer Question

How do I know when what I think is an intestinal virus becomes something worse?
JA: Have you seen a doctor about this yet? What medications are you taking?
Customer: Went to the Drs. she probed around and found nothing. Last night after having dinner my stomach gas pains and waves of nausea where so intense I was seconds away from going to the ER.
JA: How long have you been in pain? Are you experiencing any vomiting or nausea?
Customer: Yes, the pain was so intense last night I began vomiting but nothing was coming up finally something came up.....
JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know?
Customer: No, I am very healthy and rarely get sick. They have just completed 15 vials of blood because my platelet number was low. Could what is happeing at night have anything to do with the platelets?

Majority of the viral infection suppress the platelets production. This comes back to normal, once the virus is overcome by the body defense mechanism (immunity). The intestinal virus growing worse is judged by the intensity and duration of the symptoms. If the abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, tenderness, diarrhea progress in the intensity, this is indication of the worsening. If these symptoms lasts for more 3-4 days, this too is sign of virus worsening.

Hope your symptoms had abated completely.

Virus may give significant symptoms, but it is our body immunity which majority of the time takes over the infection. The best treatment for a intestine virus is to keep hydrated and taking lot of fluids like Gatorade and Pedialyte. These prevent electrolyte imbalance.
